John’s House is situated halfway around the Ring of Kerry route, and is a 1 hour 35 minute (and very scenic and coastal!) drive from Kerry Airport in Farranfore.
Caherdaniel is a small charming village in South Kerry, located on the shore of Derrynane bay. It is one of the most stunning and picturesque locations along the Ring of Kerry with so many beaches and bays to explore nearby.
Derrynane beach is renowned for its watersports, offering visitors kayaking lessons, surfing, paddleboarding, sailing, swimming, or snorkeling. The vast beach has shallow areas, perfect for paddling or for families. Nearby is Derrynane House, the ancestral home of one of the greatest figures of Irish history, Daniel O'Connell. You can explore the gardens or take a guided tour of some of this 320 acre national historic park. In 2020, Derrynane beach was listed among the top 25 beaches in Europe by Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards (one of only two Irish beaches on the list, the other is in North Kerry!).
Popular tourist spots of Cahersiveen, Waterville and Sneem are all around 30 minutes drive in either direction from Caherdaniel. And it is halfway along the Ring of Kerry drive; a 179km loop of the Iveragh Peninsula, famous with tourists from around the world.
